Alabama Struck By Alliance

The Alabama Struck By Alliance provides awareness of struck by hazards and to promote safe work practices. The Alliance is headquartered at the Mobile Office of the Alabama Association of General Contractors. The Alliance was formed in April 2003 with the first members being the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Alabama Association of General Contractors of America (AGC), Alabama Road Builders Association, Inc, Safe State of Alabama and Alabama Department of Transportation. An Annual Status Report of the Alliance activities is filed with OSHA. The member organizations are represented at quarterly meetings that are held around the state.

Activities of the Alliance have included:

  • Producing and distributing publicity brochures for National Work Zone Awareness Week.
  • Conducting eight training seminars around the state in 2003 on “Awareness Training for Struck By Hazards in Work Zones”.
  • Conducting the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training Course free-of-charge to teachers and students at the Career/Technical schools in the Mobile County Public School System in 2004.
  • Conducting a seminar on temporary traffic control for contractors in 2005.
  • Designing and placing a billboard to call attention to safe temporary traffic control for hurricane responders in 2006.
  • Producing and distributing an informational brochure about the Alliance.
